Merry Christmas to all!
This was inspired by all the Christmas mornings my siblings and I have had sneaking down to see the tree because we were too excited to sleep. It's been a few years since we beat the sun up but the holiday enthusiasm definitely remains! Wishing everyone a happy holiday!

Little illustration I did before CTN-X to channel my excitement! Had a fantastic time seeing old friends, meeting new ones, feeding my brain and getting inspired. Until next year!

Here's a little piece I started before CTNX while I was daydreaming about sunny California! I had an amazing time in Burbank for the show and loved seeing old friends and meeting so many new ones. Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by my table, hope to see you all again next year!

Here is a piece I did for Uppercase Magazine's Work/life 3 illustration directory earlier this year and am very excited to be able to share. The directory includes 100 illustrators and designers from all over the world who each created original art specifically for the book. I've been a long time fan of Uppercase magazine so I was thrilled to be included in this wonderful project. I received my copy of the book and it's absolutely incredible, bursting with inspiring people and artwork!

Each artist received a custom assignment for the book and since I had mentioned during my interview that as a kid I was always sneaking out of my crib to draw through the night, that is what I was asked to illustrate. I ended up digging through old dusty boxes to find actual drawings I had done when I was younger which is what I included on the wall and the images on the floor.

If you're interested in the book you can find it here!

In other exciting news, I recently got a new job with DHX Media in Vancouver! The job is off to a great start so far and I'm absolutely loving it. My unpacking is still going slowly but I should have my studio at home all set up this week so expect more updates soon!

Thanks for stopping by!

This was meant to be for Illustration Friday's theme of 'Fresh' but I didn't get to finish in time, so here it is just a little late! Painting this made me hungry, so I'm off to eat some morning treats! Happy weekend to all.

Here is a commission I finished recently, had a lot of fun working on this!
Looking at spacey retro photos was really inspiring as well as listening to science fiction audiobooks while I worked. :)

Below is a quick peek at the process that went into creating this.
I love thumbnailing to try and get the best compositions that I can. For me so much of the painting is figured out at this stage, it's the foundation of everything else and if I don't spend enough time finding the best option at this point I often end up being unhappy with my end result. Luckily this project didn't have a deadline so I got to play around with shapes and compositions as much as I wanted!

Next I fine tune the sketch, figure out the values, block in colours and then start painting!
